YMCA of the Triangle partners with Funxtion to set new digital solution benchmark for fitness operators worldwide

This collaboration will deliver highly personalised and immersive fitness experiences to thousands of members, reinforcing the YMCA’s position as a vital health and wellness provider in the communities it serves. 

For 167 years, the YMCA of the Triangle has been a cornerstone of its community, evolving to meet the changing needs of its members. By embracing digital innovation through Funxtion’s technology, the YMCA of the Triangle is setting a new benchmark for fitness operators worldwide. This initiative underscores the YMCA’s commitment to its members while highlighting the potential of personalised digital fitness solutions. 

The collaboration will begin with enhancements to the existing EGYM Branded Member App, providing a more comprehensive and customised experience. Funxtion’s digital fitness content, integrated with Fisikal’s advanced bookings and content delivery platform, will enable the delivery of tailored pathways with individual goals, preferences, and fitness levels. Each pathway will focus on an eight-week journey aligned to the member’s needs. This hyper-personalised approach elevates the app’s functionality and cements it as a crucial component in every member’s fitness journey. 

“Our partnership and collaboration with Funxtion, one of the industry’s most forward-thinking member experience specialists, is allowing us to build a sophisticated, person-centred, omnichannel experience for our members,” says Amy Davidson, Associate Vice President of Health Living, YMCA of the Triangle. “Our goal is to deliver an experience customised to individual needs, creating a community-driven environment that fosters a sense of belonging while assisting members in reaching their health and wellness goals. This Funxtion integration allows us to build personalised member pathways using content from multiple, worldclass partners, including Funxtion and LES MILLS, while also providing guidance from local partners Nutrition Healthworks and Avance Care Behavioural Health, and our own program content.” 

As part of the onboarding process, new members complete a survey—designed and hosted within the Fisikal integration. This captures personal details, fitness goals and workout preferences. The member’s data is analysed and assigns each member to a curated content pathway, ensuring the App delivers only relevant and engaging resources tailored to every individual’s fitness journey. 

This partnership extends beyond the App. Funxtion’s In-club digital technology will deliver on-demand LES MILLS classes, offering members anytime access to high-quality group fitness experiences. This dual-layer integration, within app and in-club, provides members with the latest LES MILLS content which will also support small group training sessions.

The integration is in its final stages, with a full rollout across all YMCA of the Triangle clubs scheduled for Q2, 2025. This initiative is expected to boost engagement levels, strengthen a sense of belonging and empower members to achieve their fitness aspirations in more meaningful ways.
